I visited Ithaca this weekend, o how I miss being high above cayugas waters. Next semester will be here soon enough and when I'm knee deep in exams, labs, and case studies I will wish to be at work again. Oh p.s. a little bit of background- I go to Cornell University (wish I love dearly) and study environmental (watershed specially) engineering. I did my whole fall jr. year semester this summer and now I am inabsentia working at environmental engineering firm in White Plains to get my hands dirty (both literally and figuratively). I go back to Cornell for Spring and I will graduate on time.

Oh knitting how I miss you. Work has been busy and I have been travelling alot, so my knitting has slowed. But I finished my Wispy Wisp and I will take pictures soon. I casted on the Montego Bay Scarf from IK and a hat for a friend.

Also in big news I am on RAVERLY!!! ::happy dance:: but am going to dedicate this weekend to update, discover and absorb myself into the website.

ANNDD I think I'm going to get another tattoo.. maybe.. we'll see.

OOhhhh and and and ( i swear this is it) I am going to Budapest in January!!

Pattern: Motorcycle Chica Gloves IK Summer 07
If you can't tell I love this issue of the interweave
Material: Reynolds Saucy Sport 100% mercenzied cotton colorway 150
Amount: one ball and a few yards of a second
Needles: US 5 circulars and dpn

So yea this is the project that allowed to have left overs for the perdita headband (check out below). Its a great pattern, but we wary that the wrist band will be tooooo big, so reduce your stitches! This project is first worked flat and then in the round. This project enlightened me on how different my in the round and flat gauges really are. If I were to knit this again I would have knit the flat part in a tighter gauge (smaller needles) and then work in the round on the US 5. Word to the wise

In other exciting news both Vogue and Interweave came out with their holiday knitting magazines! I already scanned bboth and put more projects on my que. Also only 200 people in front of me on the raverly waitlist. I'm kinda nervous to get on raverly. Will it be the end of all my productivity at work? I think so! (I'm extremely excited)

Farmers Market Bag
Pattern: My own. I actually used a mixture of all the wonderful farmers market bags I have seen including but not limited to Knitty's everlasting bagstopper, Summer IK 07 yoga bag and Magknits farmers market bag
Material: Reynolds Saucy 100% mercenzied cotton colorway 178
Amount: about 250 yards which is a ball and a 1/3
Needles: US 5 circulars

Oh summer how I miss thee. As the leaves fall and the air chills, I find myself still believing that it's summer. Every knitter loves fall and I do love fall. BUUTT I love summer more, summer nights on a huge porch with a porch swing, good homebrewed beer, the grateful dead playing in the background with a few friends(or/and a knitting project on hand). Really that is what i want to be doing the rest of my life.

As I get nostaglic for the summer. I thought I would share my farmers market bag. In Ithaca they have a wonderful farmers market with one stand called Plenty of Posies. They make the most beautiful bouquets, thats what I have in my bag. As an environmentalis and a responsible citizen of this wonderful earth I longer use plastic bags(as much as possible at least) , or plastic bottled drinks or nonreuseable utensils, and kitchenware. It can be hard, but it's rewarding and worth it.

On a lighter note: I miss my hair alot. I just all 11 inches off including my prize dredlock. saddness.

Material: Berroco Ultra Alpaca 50% alpaca, 50% wool ( I detest 100% alpaca becuase it sheds way to much, this blend is as nice as 100 % alpaca without the shed and with extra warmth)
Amount: hmm 5 balls? I knit this awhile ago
Needles: hmm maybe US 8
Modifications: Not too many. I added the 2 inch knit 1 purl 1 ribbed band on the body and the sleeves because I love ribbing. I did a yarn subsitution and really thats about it. Veronik Avery writes and designs the most beautiful patterns

Pretty hand painted button from my LYS in Tarrytown, NY

Overall this is a great sweater and because I am no model and my friend is no photographer the sweater looks ways better in person. Surprisingly this sweater was a quick 3 1/2 week knit.

Flickr is totally pissing me off! I just can't seem to post more than one photo a blog entry. I will do more intensive research this weekend.

So tomorrow my whole office is going fishing! As a strictly veggie with a very surburban family I have never been fishing and weird enough I'm pretty excited. Personally I don't eat meat because of people fishing, I don't eat meat because of mass fishing, factory farms and the idea of mass breeding for money. So me and the other 19 engineers I work with will venture out on the high seas with bottled beer and sandwichs (veggies and cheese only please!) to catch some striped bass. Maybe I should reread The Old Man and the Sea before tomorrow :)

Material: Reynolds Saucy Sport 100 % mercerized cotton
Amount: Maybe 1/3 of a 50g/123 yard ball
Needles: US 5- Susan Bates
Modifications: Well I guess I just changed the purpose of the pattern. I used a larger gauge (not that I did a gauge swatch haha) and I repeated the Lily of the Valley chart 9 times. I added two sewn button loops. Ysolda does a great tutorial on her blog. Not pictured are two stashed shell buttons Iused for the closure.

I love it, to say the least this was a great stash busting project. The only problem was a I ran out of beads on the last three repeats. Oh well. Sorry if the photos are wonky I'm still trying out figure out the world of blogging. Anyone have any good blog references to use? I have been poking around the internet, but it's always nice to hear from others. Anyone good at flickr? How do I use the "blog it" button to upload more than one photo at the same time?

So as of right now I am overwelmed by this blog. I have so many knits to show, but I'm trying to pace myself. Should I just post everything or do I show a few things a week? You know I have been knitting for 9 years, since I was around 12 years old! That is a lot of back blogging to do. Do I even have time and energy to edit all those photos!? Man, I gotta make some decisions. On top of that I'm knitting four things obessively, i just ripped out a scarf that was more than half way done and I just bought Lorna's Laces Helen's Lace. I need a good lace pattern to knit and soon.

Haha whatever, life is good.
